The airline grounded flights at airports nationwide on the day due to a system failure.
The airline said in a statement that it was "facing an system disruption affecting operations" and issued "a temporary ground stop."
The airline did not say the duration the outage would continue or the number of flights were affected. It said it was "working to resume our services" following the incident.
The ground stop also impacted the regional carrier, which is a subsidiary of Alaska Airlines, as per an advisory by the Federal Aviation Administration.
Alaska Airlines, a member of The Alaska Air Group headquartered in the Pacific Northwest, mainly serves on the western seaboard of the United States. It services 140 destinations worldwide, including 37 states and 12 countries, according to its website.
Previously, the airline joined forces with another carrier, which was not impacted by Thursday's flight suspension.
It is the latest IT outage affecting the airline this year. Earlier this year, an issue halted flights for about several hours.
Alaska Airlines did not provide a comment on the day to media inquiries.
Air transportation in the US has been complicated in recent weeks due to the US government shutdown that began recently. Shortage of flight controllers showing up for work has delayed flights at several airports.
